The first project for Intro to Making was creating an edge-lit sign. I used a laser cutter, band saw, soldering iron, drill press and belt sander to make this sign. It’s powered by a 9V battery and controlled with an on-off switch. There are some laser cut gears in the middle that can spin around for fun.
Besides what this class was advertised to be, a great benefit has been continued access to MIT Protoworks, the makerspace I used to build this sign and work on my team’s project.
